print shop guide

Here’s a quick guide to some of our favorite materials to print on:

1. PAPER

Less costly and more traditional.  Works well for all image types in most design spaces!

  • Lustre: Printed on a heavier Kodak Supra Endura paper type. Very little glare/gloss and gives you very vibrant colors. The Lustre has semi matte appearance. Love this option!

  • Metallic:A deeper more metallic look. Works best in rooms with less natural light and hung in areas where there won’t be little to no glare. It’s an inexpensive option if you like the metallic look, but don’t want to pay for a metal piece.

2. CANVAS

Canvas are made for rooms with lots of light. Has a nice feel for darker and busier pics.

  • Stretched: Canvas is stretched around a wooden frame and staples to the edges leaving the full image visible on the front.

  • Traditional: Image is printed on canvas and wrapped around a wooden frame with part of the image on the sides of the frame.

3. METAL

Most popular option for many interior designers. Metal creates a highly vibrant and detailed print that resembles an image of a backlit computer screen. These are true pieces of art. They are highly glossy so it is best to be placed in a room without multiple sources of light/glare. Better for lighter photos as dark photos can become grainy when printed in metal.

4. WOOD

A wood sheet is crafted and then the image is printed directly onto the wood. There is less detail than paper or metal and you can still see some of the natural grain of the wood beneath the image. Perfect for a more rustic space that has a more classic look.
